GETTING TO KNOW US

MISSION: The purpose of the church library is to encourage the use of all type of media as a means of strengthening Christian education for all age groups. The intent is to provide a service ministry and an inspirational ministry as well as leisure time reading to individual groups as our church carries out its stated mission which is:

We believe that God's primary purpose for Mount Pleasant Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to represent His good and perfect will in our community and beyond through our efforts to nurture, to reach out, and to witness to others.

LOCATION: The library is located between the parlor and the chapel on the second floor. This is also the Children's Sunday School area.

HOURS: The library is open before, during and after any church related activities. Leaders of church activities and studies are invited to conduct them in the church library.

HOW ARRANGED: The library has over 1500 volumes including reference media as well as CDs and DVDs. Media is shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System of Classification. Holdings are listed on a computer program in the library. Instructions for use of this program are located beside the computer.

HOW TO BORROW: A self checkout procedure is in place. After making a selection SIGN YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME and TELEPHONE NUMBER on the card located in the back of the book. Leave the card in the box on the table.

LIBRARY BUDGET: Acquisitions are dependent upon gifts , memorials, and honorariums. Checks should be made payable to Mount Pleasant UMC and designated for the LIBRARY FUND #3002. All gifts will be appreciated and acknowledged.
